Waterproof construction & core technology

We built SmartCore Twilight flooring on our proprietary rigid core platform that combines limestone composite and polymer for dimensional stability in humid environments. The core won’t expand or contract with temperature changes the way laminate can, which means your floor stays flat and locked together year-round.
The waterproof barrier extends through every layer, so you can install Twilight directly over concrete slabs in basements or on top of existing vinyl in laundry rooms without worrying about moisture damage. We’ve tested this construction in commercial kitchens and pet-heavy households — the planks hold up to standing water for 72 hours without warping or delamination.
Twilight color profile & visual texture

The Twilight colorway blends charcoal, taupe, and espresso tones across a white oak grain pattern. We use embossed-in-register printing technology that aligns the texture with the visual grain, so when you run your hand across the surface, the grooves match what your eye sees.
Each carton contains planks with four different print films to avoid repetitive patterns when you install a large room. The micro-beveled edges create subtle shadow lines between boards that enhance the authentic hardwood appearance. For homeowners who prefer the depth of darker floors without the maintenance challenges of real stained wood, Twilight delivers the look with none of the refinishing requirements.
Installation guidelines & subfloor prep

Floating installation process
You can install SmartCore Twilight flooring as a floating floor over plywood, OSB, concrete, ceramic tile, or existing vinyl sheet goods. The subfloor must be clean, dry, and flat within 3/16″ over a 10-foot span. We recommend leaving a 1/4″ expansion gap around the perimeter of the room and at all vertical obstructions.
The SecureClick locking system lets you angle and tap planks into place without adhesive. Start your first row along the longest wall, and stagger end joints by at least 6″ in adjacent rows for structural integrity. Most installers complete a 200-square-foot room in 4-6 hours with basic hand tools.

What people are saying

Common questions about Twilight vinyl plank
Yes, the 100% waterproof construction makes Twilight ideal for bathrooms, laundry rooms, mudrooms, and any space where moisture is a concern. The rigid core won't swell or warp when exposed to standing water, and the sealed locking system prevents water from reaching your subfloor. We recommend maintaining the 1/4" expansion gap around toilets, vanities, and washing machines to allow for normal thermal movement.
Twilight is our darkest oak-inspired colorway, featuring charcoal and espresso tones with subtle taupe highlights. It reads as a deep stained wood floor rather than black or gray. If you prefer something slightly lighter with more brown warmth, our <a href="/claremount-oak/">Claremount Oak</a> offers medium-dark tones, while <a href="/glendale-pine/">Glendale Pine</a> brings rustic character with visible knots and distressing.
You'll need a tape measure, pencil, speed square, utility knife with extra blades, tapping block, pull bar, and spacers to maintain the expansion gap. A miter saw or vinyl plank cutter speeds up crosscuts, but a utility knife and straightedge work fine for scoring and snapping planks. No adhesive, nails, or specialized flooring tools are required thanks to the SecureClick locking mechanism.
The 20 mil wear layer includes UV inhibitors that resist fading under normal residential sunlight exposure. We recommend using window treatments during peak sun hours in rooms with large south- or west-facing windows to protect all flooring materials and furnishings. The Twilight colorway's darker tones naturally show less visible fading over time compared to lighter vinyl planks.
Yes, SmartCore Twilight is compatible with radiant heat as long as the surface temperature doesn't exceed 85°F. Turn off the radiant system 48 hours before installation and keep it off for 48 hours after completion to allow the planks to acclimate. Gradually increase the temperature by 5°F per day until you reach your desired setting.
We offer color-matched T-molding, reducer strips, and threshold pieces that coordinate with the Twilight colorway. For transitions to carpet, use a reducer molding that ramps down to the lower carpet height. For tile or hardwood at the same height, T-molding provides a clean finished look. All transition pieces attach to the subfloor — never glue or nail through the floating vinyl planks.
The Pro Collection rigid core in our smartcore twilight flooring is significantly more stable than standard flexible LVT. The limestone-polymer core resists indentation from furniture, provides better sound dampening, and installs more easily because the planks don't bend during the locking process. The 7mm total thickness also feels more substantial underfoot compared to 4-5mm flexible vinyl products.
