Toasted Eucalyptus Vinyl Plank Flooring

★★★★★4.8/5· thousands of reviews

Our Toasted Eucalyptus vinyl plank captures the rich, caramelized tones and natural grain patterns of authentic eucalyptus hardwood. Each plank features embossed-in-register texturing that aligns perfectly with the visual grain, creating a realistic wood-look surface that feels genuine underfoot.

Designed for real-world durability, this waterproof vinyl plank stands up to spills, pet accidents, and heavy foot traffic without warping or staining. The attached underlayment provides built-in sound absorption and cushioning, while the rigid core construction prevents flexing and telegraphing of subfloor imperfections. We engineered this flooring for homeowners who want the warmth of exotic hardwood without the maintenance headaches.

Color Profile & Visual Design

Color Profile & Visual Design

The Toasted Eucalyptus colorway features warm honey and amber tones with subtle caramel highlights that shift naturally across each plank. Medium to dark brown grain lines create depth and movement, mimicking the density variations found in genuine eucalyptus lumber.

The embossed texture follows every knot, grain line, and character mark visible in the print layer. This embossed-in-register technology ensures your fingers trace the same patterns your eyes see, eliminating the flat, disconnected feel of lower-quality vinyl. The micro-beveled edges on all four sides add shadow lines between planks, replicating the look of individually installed hardwood boards rather than a continuous sheet surface.

Waterproof Core Construction

Waterproof Core Construction

We built SmartCore Flooring Toasted Eucalyptus around a rigid composite core that contains zero wood or organic fibers. This engineered core structure maintains dimensional stability even when exposed to standing water, temperature fluctuations, or humidity changes that would destroy traditional laminate or engineered hardwood.

The waterproof construction extends through every layer of the plank, from the backing through the core and up to the wear layer. This complete moisture barrier makes our flooring ideal for below-grade basements, laundry rooms, mudrooms, and full bathrooms where water exposure is inevitable. Unlike water-resistant products that only tolerate brief spills, our waterproof planks can handle prolonged moisture contact without swelling, cupping, or delaminating.

Installation & Subfloor Requirements

Installation & Subfloor Requirements

Click-Lock System

The drop-and-lock installation system connects planks at a 20-degree angle without requiring adhesive, nails, or specialized tools. Each plank clicks securely into the previous row, creating a floating floor that expands and contracts as a single unit. Most DIYers complete a 200-square-foot room in a single weekend.

Subfloor Compatibility

Our Toasted Eucalyptus vinyl plank installs directly over concrete, existing vinyl, ceramic tile, or wood subfloors that are clean, dry, and level within 3/16″ over 10 feet. The rigid core construction bridges minor subfloor irregularities without telegraphing bumps or dips to the surface. For concrete subfloors, we recommend a moisture barrier when the slab is below grade or shows signs of moisture transmission.

Gorgeous color and easy install
I installed this flooring in my kitchen and dining room over the weekend. The warm eucalyptus tones look incredible with my white cabinets, and the texture feels like real wood. The click-lock system was straightforward even for a first-timer.

Holds up to three dogs and kids
We've had this flooring for eight months now with three large dogs and two kids under 10. Still looks brand new despite the daily chaos. Water bowls have spilled multiple times with zero damage.

Perfect basement solution
Our basement gets damp in spring, so we needed something truly waterproof. The Toasted Eucalyptus has handled the moisture without any warping or buckling. It also feels warmer underfoot than the concrete we had before.

More realistic than expected
I was skeptical about vinyl looking like real wood, but the embossed texture and color variation are really convincing. Guests regularly ask if it's hardwood. The medium tone hides dirt better than lighter floors we've had.

Great with radiant heat
We installed this over our radiant heating system in the bathroom, and it works beautifully. The floor warms evenly, and there's been no shrinking or gapping even with the temperature changes. The waterproof construction is essential for a bathroom application.

Excellent value for the quality
I compared this to several other vinyl plank options, and the SmartCore construction quality stood out. The attached underlayment saved me time and money, and the wear layer feels substantial. The Toasted Eucalyptus color is exactly what I wanted.

Common Questions About Toasted Eucalyptus

Yes, the 100% waterproof construction makes this flooring ideal for full bathrooms, powder rooms, and laundry areas. The rigid core will not swell, warp, or delaminate when exposed to standing water, steam, or high humidity. We recommend leaving a 1/4" expansion gap around the perimeter and sealing the gap with color-matched trim or caulk to prevent water from migrating under the flooring.

Toasted Eucalyptus falls in the medium-to-warm tone range with more golden amber hues than traditional oak finishes. It's warmer and richer than light options like Cottage Oak or Savannah Oak, but not as dark as deep espresso or walnut tones. The eucalyptus grain pattern also tends to be tighter and more linear than the cathedral grain found in wide-plank oak styles.

This product features a 6 mil wear layer that provides residential-grade protection against scratches, scuffs, and daily wear. The wear layer contains aluminum oxide particles that resist abrasion from foot traffic, pet claws, and furniture movement. For residential applications, a 6 mil wear layer offers long-term durability when combined with proper maintenance and felt pads under furniture.

No additional underlayment is required. Each SmartCore Flooring Toasted Eucalyptus plank includes a pre-attached 1.5mm IXPE foam underlayment that provides sound dampening, cushioning, and minor subfloor leveling. Adding a second underlayment layer can actually interfere with the locking system and create instability in the floating floor.

Yes, SmartCore vinyl plank is compatible with radiant heating systems as long as the surface temperature does not exceed 85°F. The rigid core construction conducts heat efficiently while maintaining dimensional stability. Turn on the radiant heating system at least 48 hours before installation and maintain a consistent temperature during and after installation to allow the flooring to acclimate.

We recommend using T-molding transitions at doorways where the flooring meets carpet or tile at the same height. For height differences, use reducer strips or end caps to create a smooth, safe transition between floor surfaces. Color-matched transition pieces in coordinating wood tones blend naturally with the Toasted Eucalyptus planks while accommodating the expansion gap required around the perimeter.

Heavy furniture can create temporary compression in the foam underlayment, but the rigid core layer resists permanent indentation. We recommend felt pads or furniture coasters under heavy pieces like refrigerators, pianos, and bookcases to distribute weight and prevent surface marks. For furniture that will remain stationary long-term, consider wider coasters that spread the load across multiple planks.
